Haridwar in Uttarakhand is among the seven holy destinations for Hindus and is also one of the four sites where the Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years. Located at the foothills of Shivalik range and on the banks of River Ganga, Haridwar (literally translated as Gateway of the Gods) serves as the entry point for several pilgrimage centers located in the Himalayas including Chota Char Dham – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri – pilgrimage.
Itinerary
Day 01: Delhi – Haridwar
Upon arrival at Delhi, met by our representative and transfer to Haridwar by surface (210kms/5hours). Haridwar is a holy city. Hari means God and Dwar means Gate. It is also called Door way to God as every year the Chardham Yatra (Yatra to Famous Shrine of Shri Badrinath, Kedarnath and Gangotri and Yamunotri) starts from here.
Haridwar is regarded as one of the seven holiest places to Hindus. Evening visit to Har – Ki – Pauri to see and perform the Aarti at Har ki Pauri Ghat. Dinner and overnight stay at Haridwar.
Day 02: Haridwar
After breakfast we begin our city tour of Haridwar. Visit the temple of Ma Mansa Devi (Also Known as wish fulfilling goddess). The temple is situated on the western side of river Ganga on the top of a cliff (Shivalik hills). Later visit the temple of Chandi Devi (The goddess of power)on the eastern side of river on top of a mountain cliff. Visit Daksh Prjapati temple at Kankhal, Pawan Dham, Bharat mata Mandir. Return back to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 03: Haridwar – Rishikesh – (24 Km )
After breakfast, proceed for an excursion trip of Rishikesh, Rishikesh is a holy city for Hindus located in the foothills of the Himalaya in northern India. Legend states that Lord Rama did penance here for killing Ravana, the demon king of Lanka.
It is also known as the gateway to the Himalayas, Rishikesh is the starting point for traveling to the sites that form the Char Dham pilgrimage – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, in Rishikesh visit the magnificent ashrams and famous Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula. Dinner and overnight stay at Rishikesh.
Day 04: Rishikesh – Delhi (235 Km)
After breakfast drive to Delhi.
